The long haul

While pursuing my goal of financial independence through music publishing over the last 37 yrs, I've found that more often than not it is an endeavor of the loner.

Very few actually understand the fundamentals of the music business re: P.R.O 's, self publishing, distribution, exclusivity vs non exclusivity, royalties and licensing.

I've worn every hat imaginable. Singer, songwriter, musician, producer, arranger, performer, graphic designer, distributor, publisher.

After many years in many bands with no leadership, direction or commitment, I decided to go it alone, forge ahead and see it through.

Luckily I learned ,early on, that it's not a sprint, but a marathon.

When my friend and engineer, Matt Erich, closed EME Studios in 2015 I took it as a sign. It was time to focus on exploiting my publishing catalog that I had built over 3 decades.

Luckily for me, useful information crossed my path regarding Licensing. That one article changed the direction of my career pursuits.

Thanks to Songtradr, I now have multiple songs licensed with nearly 5 dozen tracks shortlisted for potential licensing.

Yes, there will be times when you doubt your ability to see clearly.

But you must have faith that the light at the end of the tunnel is not an oncoming train.
